'Understanding Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome & Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders' (2017) by Clair Smith of HMSA

‘Understanding Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome & Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders’ (2017) written by Claire Smith, Publications Editor & Partnership Director at The Hypermobility Syndromes Association (HMSA), based in the United Kingdom.
Claire worked on this incredible resource for several years, nearly completing it just before the International Consortium began working on updated Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) and Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders (HSD) criteria — published March 2017. Obviously, she did not want to publish a new book with obsolete information, especially considering the intent was for this incredible resource to be as up-to-date as possible. Hence, Claire waited to publish ‘Understanding Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome & Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders’ until after the new criteria was agreed upon and published in March 2017.
I was privileged to preview ‘Understanding Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome & Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders’ before it was published. Each chapter has been peer-reviewed by a specialist

knowledgeable about EDS, HSD and the specific topic discussed in each chapter. Claire’s book is well-written and published the right way, by someone who is an invaluable asset to the broader hypermobility-related syndromes community. Clair devoted her time, energy and personal resources to publish something for our community that is so badly needed.
We are more than thrilled that this amazing resource has finally been published, and are so happy to share about it on Strength/Flexibility/Health/EDS!
